I was terrified of either going mad or destroying my relationships with my mum and my husband. The cracks were already showing, as I’d spent the first part of the year retreating from my family and...
Thank you for your honesty to share your experiences. I'm really grateful that we now live in a time when taboo topics like menopause are spoken about with courage, honesty and openness - bravo to you and other women who choose to share their story. As the say goes 'there's strength in numbers'! Big hug and love x
Lots of strength here with many feeling like there are in the same boat😫 we have to be more open and honest to spark those convos and prompt medical profs to offer more help
Loved this as always, Marv - I'm so glad we are talking about all of this more now, I have so many friends who spent a year of their lives thinking they were losing their minds and screwing up their relationships!
Oh Jess, ‘losing their minds’ is exactly that. So many women walking around feeling dreadful, but the stigma around saying anything about it would have had them labelled as ‘mad’. It is a relief that it can be openly discussed and considerations offered in the workplace. Makes the world a better place for the next generations of women hopefully!! Thanks so mich for commenting. Appreciate it very much
I was peri menopausal aged 41, thankfully I only had the hot sweats. My periods disappeared totally aged 42. I was greatful my symptoms was basically nil as I seen my mother suffer greatly with the menopause. However she was aged about 50.
Wow! Sonia. 41? I appreciate you sharing that. Sounds like perhaps it was more annoying than terrifying for you? Sorry to hear your Mum had a tough time. Your speedy menopause demonstrates how unique we all are, no two women’s experiences are the same.
What a wonderful read about the menopause which I am currently going through. Thank you for your insight into this stage of a woman's life cycle. Please all read my experience of the perimenopause and menopause Substack post? Like, comment, subscribe and share with as many people as you can? Many thanks!!!
My moods are balanced out now I take a herbal supplement for menopausal symptoms from Holland and Barrett with soya milk and omega 3 fish oils. My doctor told me unless my symptoms become worse, she will not put me on HRT as I am managing my symptoms without it. She also told me it is risky to have HRT for any woman any age, for menopausal women can develop breast cancer. So is why she will not put me on it, unless it is the very last resort. I still get insomnia but, managing it well.
When i saw my menopause doctor earlier this month, she discussed HRT but, decided against me taking HRT. Because I am coping with taking herbal menopause pills, drinking soya milk and taking omega 3 fish oils daily which seems to have balanced me out. My moods are balanced, it is just erratic periods, brain fog and slight memory loss I get.
My menopause doctor said to me that women who take HRT have a high risk of breast cancer and so, was against me taking it unless my symptoms get worse.
I jolly hope I won't get dementia? Soon as i am at the age, I might be having to go in for a mammogram scan for breast cancer.
Tomorrow I be booking in for your mentoring broadcasting session being I am pursuing a broadcasting career in TV. I need to know your availability next week except Monday please?
Hi Maverine, I am seeing a menopause specialist doctor in the morning to discuss about putting me on HRT. You are welcome btw. I love you on ITV GMB. You are a real inspiration to us all.
